Community Speed Watch
The Community Speed Watch scheme allows volunteers to monitor the speed of passing vehicles using a speed detection device.
The volunteers record the details of vehicles which are exceeding the speed limit. These details are passed to the Police, who will issue a letter to the vehicle owner, advising them of the dangers of speeding, and reminding them of the law. If three letters are issued to the same vehicle owner, the Police carry out further investigation.
Join Your Community Speed Watch Team!
Can you spare just one hour a month to make a real difference in your neighborhood?
Volunteers will receive full training at the roadside with a trained member of the team. It’s a great way to meet neighbours while making your community a safer place to live.
No special skills are needed – just 30 mins of availability every now and again will make a real difference to local speeding.

Gateways
Burrough Green and Burrough End both have white gateways installed at both ends of the villages. They are designed to highlight the entrance to the village and the change of speed limit. Drivers tend to notice and accept the distinction between the two speed limits when there is a more obvious presence on the entrance.
Road Markings
In various places in the village and through Burrough End, the Parish Council has installed enhanced road markings, which further highlight the speed limit and the need to slow down.
Further Measures
The Parish Council are constantly looking at ways to tackle the problem of vehicles travelling at excessive speeds through the local area. This topic remains a priority, and we will continue to try to work with the Police, District and County Council to take further measures.
